Club Tapiz

We rolled in to Club Tapiz at about 1:30 unexpectedly for a bite. A bottle of viognier was a fabulous paring to our equally as fabulous lunch. Rich peach and apricot stone fruit characteristics, with decent acidity and a good thread of minerality weave it’s self into the background of this creamy full bodied and food friendly white.

The menu was a fusion of classic French cuisine with an Argentine flare. The massive wine list featured exclusively Argentine wines ranging from 180 pesos to about 45 pesos.
The wide selection of reds, whites, roses and blends truly echo the diversity Mendoza has to offer as quality wine region. Ingriends like hearts of palm, local seasonal fruits and olives were splattered all over this impressive menu. The small yet spacious room seats about 25 people, with well dressed tables Bordeaux colored walls that are adorned with tasteful art and lofty ceilings.

To start we decided on two appetizers: avocado, citrus and hearts of palm salad; along with, an assortment of cheeses and marinated rabbit. The oily cold rabbit was marinated in sweet onions and fresh herbs and was soooo yummy I don’t want to devalue the culinary masterpiece with words. The bread they brought us to nibble on was more than amazing, a pancetta and chive bread that would convert any Atkins dieter into a ferocious carb eating monster in a second.

As a main we split a Tagliatelli in mushroom sauce, the pasta was cooked to perfection and was topped with a broccoli tempura inspired garnish that had a wonderful toasted nutty flavor. The sauce was a creamy buttery and surprising not too rich; the classics done to perfection with style and flare.

For dessert we devoured an assortment of rich chocolate and saffron pannacotta. Each dish was delicious and suffered from no disappointments. The world class service truly showed the professionalism of Club Tapiz’s staff and would make any vacationer more than happy with their choice to visit Club Tapiz.

This picturesque property is surrounded by vineyards with an impressive bodega on the property that is open to the public for tours daily, they do feature an exclusive wine tasting every evening at 8 pm.; however, they are offered exclusively to guests of Club Tapiz.: just another reason to extend your afternoon visit to a few nights stay.

The common room/guest lounge is where the tastings are held. This fabulous space is equipped with a fire place, big arm chairs and sofas with an underground mini cellar decorated with some of the owner’s private wine collection. This stately room is welcoming and cozy with a fabulous view of the pool and vineyard.
